County Executive McCoy, Health Care Partners and Safe Sleeping Task Force to Mark Safe Baby Day
Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy has made keeping kids safe a priority. In March, he appointed the Safe Sleeping Task Force, which includes caregivers, providers and members of the health care community. The task force was asked to propose an agenda that would reduce child deaths and educate the community about the risks associated with co-sleeping, which can be deadly due to the possibility of the baby being suffocated or injured. Since then, the task force has provided various ways to carry out a public education effort about safe sleeping. In order to highlight National Baby Safety Month and Safe Sleep Day, the County Executive will provide an update on the Task Force and recommendations to heighten public awareness. Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy will hold a news conference on Wednesday, September 18 at 11 a.m. at the Patient Pavilion at Albany Medical Center, at the corner of New Scotland Avenue and Myrtle Avenue. At the news conference the County Executive will be joined by officials from Albany Medical Center, Albany Countys Department for Children, Youth and Families, St. Peters Hospital, the state Office of Children and Family Services, and local child welfare agencies. ###
