OVERALL ANALYSIS OF TRAFFIC FLOWS ON STATE RURAL

ROAD NETWORK IN REPUBLIC OF SERBIA
Summary : This article presents the results of an overall quantitative and qualitative analyses
of transportation demand (traffic flows) characteristics on Republic of Serbia state rural road
network based on available data for the 1988 2005 period. The analyses are based on
network subdivision in three functional entities followed by values of basic parameters as
Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT) and Vehicle Kms/Year. Transportation demand
changes on road sections of Pan European Transportation Corridor X, namely on motorway
sections, in Serbia are analyzed further due to the fact that these sections are the trunk roads
for long distance transit trips. Present demand analyses together with supply analyses of
present condition of state rural road network are the basis for overall transport supply
appreciation and, together with the present Volume Capacity Ratio and Level of Service
estimates, they form the basis for general conclusions definition and recommendations for
future activities on network level.
