Dr. Marites D. Boncodin together with the students of Campus Journalism class of the University of Nueva Caceres Graduate School, conducted an offcampus activity and visited GoldPrint Publishing House and ABS CBN on May 23, 2013. Mr. Nilo Aureus, the publisher of Goldprint welcomed the group while Mr. Giovanni Froyalde, the graphic artist toured the class into different sections of the publishing house. They visited the lay outing room, cutting, production, digital and packaging areas. The tour guide explained thoroughly the different steps in printing and publishing. The group was so thankful for the warm accommodation. From there, the group moved to ABS CBN in Panganiban Drive. Mr. Rey Borromeo, the production manager welcomed them. They had pictorial inside the studio and witnessed a live show of TV Patrol Bicol. They also visited the office of Bantay Bata, an ABS CBN Foundation. Dr. Boncodin was thankful to Mrs. Amy Villafuerte, the station manager. It was a memorable offcampus activity. Students experienced the actual world of the different fields of mass media by gaining some interesting insights of how people work and use the equipment and devices used in media companies. This visit also supplemented the various theories acquired in the classroom for a better understanding and application of the principles in journalism. (MDB)

ICT Brought to CSNHS


The students of Information and Communication Technology under Dr. Marites D. Boncodin had successfully conducted a seminar on ICT with the theme ICT in the Classroom: A Challenge to Teachers on February 9, 2013 at Camarines Sur National High School (CSNHS) Liboton Annex Computer Laboratory. The following topics were discussed: History and Application of ICT in Education, ICT in Secondary Schools, Policies and the Use of ICT, Measuring the Impact of ICT, Status of ICT in the Philippine Education and the Reflections on ICT. This seminar was conducted as an advocacy to a continuous development of the teachers skills in using technology in the classroom. Through this one whole day seminar, the teacher-participants gained an improvement in their ICT skills, honed the skills in applying ICT in classroom teaching and submitted simple output after listening to a series of lectures. It was a friendly groupwork among the participants. (MDB)
