Amanda Van Oordt

I am not quite sure what yet whether I become an accountant or a manager. I have leadership skills and I am good with technology and a lot things that I would do in the business field would require technology. I am also very organized and that will help me greatly. I attended Traverse City West Middle school and was on honor roll all three years that I was there. I currently attend Traverse City West Senior High and have been on honor roll while I've attended there. I have taken honor classes and have been part of the orchestra. I am also currently in National Honor Society. I am also currently attending TBA for business. I am also part of the early college program. The early college program is a new program that allows students to attend college and high school at the same time earning an associate degree by their thirteenth year of school. The colleges I am enrolled in are Northwestern Michigan College and Ferris State University.

Professional experience

I have been babysitting for about eight years now. That is the only job experience that I have had so far. I plan on working in a store or in a coffee shop soon but I get such a joy from babysitting because I am not only making money but I am helping those parents.

Languages

I speak a little Spanish but not enough to have a conversation with anyone. I did take it for about four or five years.

Extracurricular activities

I played violin for one year during 6th grade and then I switched to viola and still currently play but I am no longer in the high school orchestra. I am actively involved in my church helping in the nursery and attending Sunday and Wednesday worship. I babysit a lot and those who I have babysat for for many years have become family.

Volunteer experience

My main volunteer experience is from church. I volunteer in the nursery and during summer programs. When I was ten and my sister was eight we ran the nursery at a church we were starting. We were in charge of between eight and ten kids each Sunday for about an hour and a half.

Awards received

I have received honor roll awards for the past 5 years. I have also won a photography contest award. I have been accepted into college through the early college program.
