    The narrator returns to the Brotherhood after Clifton's death and finds the brothers furious with him for his eulogy praising Clifton. They argue over the eulogy and call Clifton a traitor. During the argument, Brother Jack's glass eye pops out of its socket as he defends the Brotherhood's demand for blind faith and loyalty, which the narrator is beginning to question. The narrator is then summoned to meet with Brother Hambro.
