How

I voted in Reginas Waste Water Referendum. But first, vote the way you feel is best in the Waste Water Referendum-- obviously! In my case, I voted YES. I voted yes for three main reasons: 1) One I think every aspect of the water cycle should remain entirely in the commons under public operation and control. 2) The numbers on both sides can be seen as debatable, sure, but what is not for me is the utter disrespect for the democratic process the city has displayed right from the start. It begins with the supposedly neutral clerk asking the province to step in to up the number of already agreed upon required signatures (not the actions of an unbiased or uncoerced clerk), to the subsequent disqualification of thousands of signatures, to the city telling people how to vote on voter information cards, and spending three times as much public money (340K) on the "no" campaign than on the "get out the vote" campaign (100K). The referendum is a great opportunity to take the pulse of Regina's citizens, not to ram a decision down their throat by all shady means available. 3) I won't give in to Stephen Harper's blackmail. The feds are meddling in municipal affairs where they don't belong. That is a message I am all too happy to send to them about their P3 or else threat with our tax money. My humble two cents. best, Marc
