I am currently reading a book called, In the Plex, by Steven Levy and have read to page 50 Passage of choice: The idea behind PageRank was that you can estimate the importance of the web page by the web pages that link to it, Brin would say. We actually developed a lot of math to solve that problem. Important pages tended to link to important pages. We converted the entire web into a big equation with several hundred million variables, which are the PageRanks of all the web pages, and billions of terms, which are the links. I found this passage interesting and this book because I am fascinated with computers and the way they work. This part was interesting because of how so simple but yet so affective this can make searching relevant to what youre looking for. Author Information: I got this information off his website (http://www.stevenlevy.com/index.php/about) Steven Levy started as a journalist in 1975 and began writing all about technology in 1981. He then joined Newsweek in 1995 as a senior editor, chief technology correspondent, and writer of the column called Technologist. He then moved to Wired Magazine as a full time writer in 2008. Connect: I can connect to this paragraph because I have read about this PageRank on about.com around a year ago. I also can connect to this paragraph because I took computer networking in Tech school for two years and I know how this works.
