    Teachers at the school are members of unions planning a strike on October 17th. If the strike occurs, many teachers will not come to school that day. Other unions also advise their members not to cover for absent colleagues during strikes.     Dear Parents/Carers, Re: Proposed Strike Action by Members of the National Union of Teachers and NASUWT. You may have heard in the news that Thursday 17th October is a day of planned strike action in the North East region by members of the above professional associations. A significant number of our teachers are members of these unions and if the strike goes ahead, they may not be in school on that day. Furthermore, it is usual, in the event of industrial action, that other unions will advise their members not to cover duties for absent colleagues. It may be wise to plan your child care arrangements for that day because in the event of the strike taking place, I may not be able to ensure that we have sufficient adults to secure the health and safety of the pupils. I will therefore have no option other than to close the school to children for one day. I will write out to you again when there is further information and will aim to give you as much notice as possible if the school has to close.
