Diabetes mellitus

This is a metabolic and endocrinal condition with disturbance of carbohydrate

metabolism due to functional reduction of pancreatic islets with increase of appetite
and profuse discharge of urine, loss of body weight, and complications of
hypertension, coronary heart disease, cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral thrombosis,
cerebral embolism, and gangrene of limbs.

Treatment:

Foot massage: The massage is applied to pancreas (17), pituitary gland (4), stomach
(15), kidney (22), adrenal gland (21), lung (14) and urinary bladder (24) reflecting
areas (Fig. 54).

Foot acupuncture:

Meridianal acupoints: At Taixi (KI 3), Rangu (KI 2), Xingjian (LR 2), Zhaohai
(KI 6), Zhongfeng (LR 4), Yinbai (SP 1) and Shangqiu (SP 5) acupoints, a balanced
reinforce-reducing technique is applied and the needles are retained for 20 minutes.
