Teodora Alonso Y Reolonda Doa Teodora Alonso was born on November 8, 1826 on Sta. Cruz Manila.

She belonged to a distinguished and prominent family in Sta. Cruz. In fact her uncle, Jose Florentino served as a Philippine Delegate to the Spanish Cortes (Spanish Legislature). She studied in the Dominican Colegio De Sta. Rosa in Manila. According to Rizal in his autobiography, Doa Teodora was a mathematician, she was well versed in Spanish and was inclined in to literature. As Rizals first teacher, she had a profound influence on his development and his inclination to literature and medicine.
