The document discusses the need for energy conservation in India. It notes that energy is essential for industry, economic growth, and quality of life but that resources are being depleted. Energy consumption per capita is low compared to other countries but demand is rising due to population growth and improving standards of living. Conservation is important to use energy more efficiently and reduce waste without impacting productivity, as there are gaps between demand and supply. Conservation policies should continue and provide benefits like reduced energy bills, increased competitiveness and profits, less imports, and environmental protection.

Energy is an indispensable component of industrial product employment economic growth environment & fraction of the cost of finished product of the whole world. The energy requirement is steadily rising day by day mainly because of two reasons. 1. Increase in Population 2. The improvement in the standard of living of the masses. The per capita energy consumption in India is very low as compared to that in advanced countries. However our energy resources i.e. Coal, Petroleum products etc are fast getting depleted whereas their formation takes millions years. Also is a beyond control human beings. Thus energy saving is essential. Energy conservation means using energy more efficiently or reducing wastage of energy. It is important that any energy conservation plan should only try to eliminate wastage of energy without in any way affecting productivity gaps between energy demand and supply. Policies for achieving energy conservation should continue to be key element of all future strategies. THE BENEFITS OF ENERG CONSERVATION IS 1. Reduced energy bill, increased competitiveness in creased productivity, improved quality in increase profits. 2. Reduced energy imports. Avoided costs can be used for poverty reduction, conservation of limited resources. Improved energy security. Reduced green house gases and other emission, maintains sustainable environment. -----
