    I am requesti ng funding for Hawaiian Gardens Gang Pre venti on/Drop OUl l nte rveniion
    Program in fiscal year 2010. The en tity to receive funding for thi s project is: ABC
    Unified School Distri ct, 16700 Norwa lk Bl vd., Cerri tos, CA 90703. T he purpose of the
    project is to help Hawaii an Gardens youth at-risk to stay in schoo l and out of gangs and
    crime. Counse lors wi ll provide c lassroom presentat ions, discussion groups, home visits,
    employment training, exc ursion s, guest speakers, and homework assistance to
    partic ipating youth. Thc program will be a collaboration with the ABC Unified Sc hool
    Di slrict and CilY of Haw aiian Garde ns to max imi ze resou rces. Il will be a valuab le use
    of wxpayer funds bec ause it will reduce the number of drop-outs and gang- and c rime-
    involved youth in Hawaiian Garden s. High school gradu ates also conlli bute to their
    commun ity because they ha ve high er li fetime in come prospects than non-graduates.
