    Dear Chairman Obey and Ranking Member Lewis:

    We are requesting $500,000 in funding for the Virginia Trawl Survey. The entity to
    receive funding for this project is Virginia Institute of Marine Science located at 1208
    Greate Rd. PO Box 1346 Gloucester Point, Virginia 23062. This survey provides the
    longest time series of fis heries monitoring data in the Chesapeake Bay. Data from this
    effort are used by the Virginia Marine Resources Commission and other fisheries
    managers to assess fi shery resources in the Bay. We certify that neither we nor our
    spouses have any financial interest in this project.
