The Honorable David R Obey, Chairman

The Honorable Jerry Lewis, Ranking Member
Committee on Appropriations
H-218, The Capitol
Washington, D.C . 20515

Dear Chairman Obey and Ranking Member Lewis:

I am requesting funding for Mobile Crime Scene Investigation Technology in

fiscal year 2010 .

The entity to receive funding for this project is:

City of Alexandria
301 King Street
Alexandria, VA 22314

Funding will be used to obtain equipment for a Crime Scene Investigation mobile
center, including specialized lights, computer equipment, cameras, and
specialized evidence collection and analysis equipment It will fill a critical need
in the area of criminal investigation and particularly in the area of forensic
analysis of crime scenes . The ability to successfully and efficiently collect,
preserve, and protect critical forensic evidence at major crime scenes is critical to
the work of the Alexandria Police Department The van will be used to respond,
for example, to a regional or local terrorist attack or a transit accident involving
multiple injuries or fatalities, where experts would use the specialized equipment
and supplies to facilitate not only the recovery and identification of victims but
also with the preservation and recovery of forensic artifacts to aid in the criminal
investigation .

I certify that neither I nor my spouse has any financial interest in this project

Sincerely,

asP Moran
