In the writings oI 'the Iather oI Croatian historiography Ivan Lucic Lucius (1604-1679) that are
kept in the Metropolitan Chapter Archive oI Split, there are several documents that he transcribed
Irom the now lost archive oI the noble Iamily oI the Cindro (de Cindris) oI Split. They deal with a
private church oI St. Michael, St. Peter and St. Martin in Solin, and according to these documents the
church was Iounded by a certain Pincius and his Iamily, who were natives oI Trnovo and nephews oI
the Bulgarian Tsar Ivan Sisman oI Trnovo (1371-1395). Because oI political circumstances, Pincius,
his brothers and a sister, together with their children, fed to Croatia, where they were received
with hospitality by King Drzislav oI Croatia, who settled them in the suburbium oI Klis. Pincius`s
son Pleso decided to build a Iamily church, which he, together with other members oI the Iamily,
endowed richly with various pieces oI land. Only the heirs oI the Iounders, in both lines, were to
have rights oI patronage over the church, and thus have the right to appoint the priest, who was
preIerably to be himselI also a descendant oI the Iounders. The last who was mentioned as such in
the documents was the priest Grubac, in the second halI oI the thirteenth century. The documents
attracted the attention oI both Bulgarian and Croatian historiography, with diIIerences in opinion.
The author maintains that the documents are Iorgeries, perhaps made on the basis oI some brieI
records oI a donation oI land Irom the end oI the eleventh or the beginning oI the twelIth century,
and oIIers the opinion that the author was some unknown cleric Irom the end oI the Iourteenth or the
beginning oI the fIteenth century, who was perhaps inspired by the Vidin campaign oI King Louis
(1365-1369) or the campaign oI Emperor Sigismund against the Ottomans in 1396, and contacts
with the Bulgarian ruler Ivan Sisman.
