Which Is Better?

Recently, in literature class we read two survival stories- a fictionalized story called Hatchet about a boy named Brian, and a nonfiction story called Lost Trail about a boy named Donn. In this paragraph, I will be comparing and contrasting these two stories to decide which story in my opinion is better. Brian and Donn were both lost, but in different kinds of terrain. Brian was lost in the Canadian woods because his plane crashed when he was going to see his father in Canada, and Donn was lost on Mnt. Katahdin because he got lost during a storm while hiking with family and friends, which means that there were people nearby Donn but Brian was completely alone. Another thing I found important was when it came to survival; I thought that Brian had a better chance than Donn did. Brian would plan and think, while Donn just kept walking; Brian also had the hatchet to make more tools, and Donn found a knife, but just threw it away; Brian had a lot of food while Donn only had water and a few strawberries. Both boys did not have real experience with what was happening. Both Brian and Donn were city boys from New York with a little bit of training from Boy Scouts and they learned some things from school. With all of this in mind, I think that the fictionalized story, Hatchet was better than the nonfiction story Lost Trail because in Hatchet he did many more exciting things, unlike in Lost Trail.
