    Incontinence of urine

    In traditional Chinese medicine this disease is divided into two types: The
    spontaneous discharge of urine at night stops in the morning; and incontinence of
    urine out of control during the day.

    Incontinence of urine and bed-wetting in children and adults due to dysfunction of
    nervous system or diseases of urinary system can be treated by the following methods.

    Acupuncture therapy:

    At reflective point:

    Location: Bed-wetting point.

    Method of manipulation: The needle is inserted for 1.6 cm and retained for three
    minutes.

    At reflective areas:
    Location: Perineum area in palmar reflective areas and ulnar reverse palmar reflective
    areas.

    Method of manipulation: The needles are shallowly inserted and removed right after
    twisting, lifting, and thrusting stimulation.

    At special acupoint beside the second metacarpal bone:

    Location: Lower abdomen acupoint.
    Method of manipulation: The needle is inserted for 1.6 cm and retained for 20
    minutes.

    Hand bath:

    Recipe: Yizhiren (Semen Alpiniae Oxyphyllae) 20 g, Sangpiaoxiao (Ootheca Mantidis)
    30 g, Longgu (fossil bone) 30 g, and Shanzhuyu (Fructus Corni) 20 g.

    Function: To tone kidney and control incontinence of urine.
    Method of manipulation: A hot decoction of these herbs is used to steam and then
    wash both hands for 30 minutes, two to three times a day.
