Richardson, Texas 75081 To whom it may concern, Please accept my letter of application for the position of mathematics teacher at Richardson High School. With my Bachelors of Science in mathematics from University of Texas at Dallas and my secondary teaching certificate I feel that I would make an excellent addition to you faculty. As a graduate of Richardson High School I am well aware of the high standards that RHS hold for both it's students and teachers. I feel with my solid background in both mathematics and teaching I could help further Richardson High School's amazing academic record. As an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Dallas I participated in the UTeach program. Which has given me the tool and knowledge needed to be an excellent mathematics educator. I have already composed and taught 6 lessons in a variety of topics. The UTeach program has also allowed me to learn from Bill Gammons, Bill Neal, and James McConnell, who have all worked RISD. These amazing professors have taught me how to be a effective and productive teacher. The University of Texas at Dallas has also afforded me the opportunity to work as a mathematics tutor for the GEMS (Gateway to Engagement, Mastery, and Success) center. As a math tutor I have helped students in a variety of different math classes. This opportunity has helped me expand both my content knowledge and teaching ability. I am especially interested in Richardson High School because of its demonstrated devotion to giving its students a quality education, as evidenced by its high standards for its teachers and students. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you about the position in the Mathematics department personally. Thank you for the consideration. I will contact you within the next two weeks. Sincerely, Ryan Monaghan
