API 682 Plan 53B

Plan 53B is a dual pressurized system that eliminates direct gas contact with the barrier liquid. The Plan 53B uses a bladder accumulator as a physical barrier between the gas and the barrier fluid. The bladder is pressurized with gas prior to filling the system with barrier liquid. As the system is filled, the bladder is compressed thus providing a positive pressure on the barrier liquid. Circulation is via a pumping ring, and a heat exchanger (air- or water-cooled) is added to the sealing loop to provide cooling. Capacity: Materials:

API 682 Plan 53C

Plan 53C is a dual pressurized system that eliminates the use of gas for pressurization through the use of a piston reservoir. Barrier liquid is stored on the top side of the piston, which travels the length of the vessel dependent upon the change in barrier liquid volume. A reference pressure, typically TItaken from the seal chamber, is provided on the bottom of the piston. The difference in area on either side of the piston creates a 10% increase in the barrier liquid pressure across a full range of operating pressures. This system is ideal for applications that have fluctuating pressures. Circulation is via a pumping ring, and a heat exchanger (air- or water-cooled) is added to the sealing loop to provide cooling. API 682 Plan 72 Gas Control Panel

Used in a dual un-pressurized seal arrangement where the secondary seal is dry running. A low-pressure gas, typically nitrogen, is introduced in the area between the two seals to sweep primary seal leakage away from the secondary seal, thus preventing fugitive emissions from escaping into the atmosphere. Used in conjunction with Plans 75 or 76.

PLAN 72API 682 Plan 75 Condensate Collection Reservoir

Used in a dual un-pressurized seal arrangement where the secondary seal is dry running. Connected to the drain port of the seal gland, condensed primary seal leakage is collected and monitored. Constructed PI of carbon steel, the minimum system components include a sight level gauge, pressure switch, and PSH removable head for cleaning of the system. Can be accompanied by Plan 72 to ensure fugitive emissions are not released into the atmosphere.

PLAN 75

Used in a dual un-pressurized seal arrangement where the secondary seal is dry running. Seal support systems can be designed and packaged using the John Crane heat exchangers. These systems are varied in their duty and design, and can be used in seal oil systems, lube oil systems, and closed loop circulation systems.

Compressor Gas Control Panels

Application-specific control systems ensure a clean, controlled flow of gas to non-contacting seals used in compressor applications, while monitoring seal performance. John Crane Lemco seal support systems create the ideal seal environment to maximize seal performance, increase seal life, extend Mean Time Between Planned Maintenance, and improve emissions control. John Crane Lemco seal support systems include Type 28XP and 28AT panels in tandem and double configurations. John Crane Lemco works closely with all parties in order to match the proper panel with the application. Each panel is tailored to meet the endusers specifications, which ensures integration with the plants control system and maintains commonality of components. Complete packages include filtration and systems for monitoring process gas supply, seal leakage, and separation gas supply. The systems reliably control and monitor pressure and/or flow with signals for alarm annunciation and automatic shutdown when specific limits are exceeded.

Seal Oil Systems

API Plan 54
When barrier liquid requirements for dual pressurized seals exceed the capabilities of a traditional Plan 53, a Seal Oil System is used. Designated as Plan 54 by API 682, these systems provide flow and heat removal capabilities exceeding that of a traditional Plan 53 system. Standard units are available in 10, 20, and 30 gallon capacities, with flows ranging from 1.5 to 4.5 gpm, and pressures to 3000 psi. Custom units are available in a wide variety of configurations and can be built to service multiple seals. Available options include: Spare pump assembly Duplex filters with isolation valves Air-cooled heat exchangers Multiple seal kits Pressure maintenance package
