Math Board Guiding questions: How are you using your universal screener data? Reading We use universal screener data to place our students in appropriate leveled small guided reading groups such as SOAR, breakfast club, and ACE. We compare Istation and Rigby data to help us place students in appropriate leveled small groups. We also ask our parents for support and send additional reading resources home to help our Tier 2 and 3 students to be successful readers. Math We use a BOY math assessment to form/pull small math guided groups and also for re-teaching units. How are you using Unit Test data? Reading Unit tests gives us the indication of whether or not they can read the high frequency words and comprehend stories. Unit tests help us know if they can read on level material and comprehend what they are reading. Math We use unit tests to regroup students if necessary into small groups. We use it to focus on the teks/skills the student may have struggled with. The purpose of our small groups is to review skills that we taught and give the student the opportunity to practice.
Describe your communication so far with parents regarding student achievement. We communicate via email, phone, notes, and in person. Also, monthly newsletters are sent via email and Tuesday folders. How many students failed in the first grading period? Do you have names? As of Progress report 1, we only had one first grader with a 75% or below average. What additional data have you collected on these students? Weekly assessments, small group intervention, and SOAR. What communication occurred for these students between parents and teachers? The teacher had a parent conference to discuss intervention plans with the parent. The teacher will have a phone conference every four weeks and an in person conference every nine weeks with the parent. First grade is very good at communicating with parents regarding grades, behavior, achievements, and any other important information we need to share with parents. At any time we have a student that is failing or close to failing we set up parent conferences. How are you tracking these students?
