Senator Turner Reacts to Ben Venue Labs Announcement

1,100 Bedford employees to lose their jobs
CLEVELANDToday, State Senator Nina Turner (D-Cleveland) issued the following statement after it was announced that Ben Venue Laboratories Inc. will cease production by the end of this year. The facility, owned by Boehringer Ingelheim Corp., is Bedfords largest employer and will begin to phase out roughly 1,100 jobs beginning this month. I am extremely dismayed to learn of the decision to close Ben Venue Laboratories in Bedford. This company has been an economic cornerstone of Northeast Ohio for threequarters of a century and its loss is a profound blow for the employees, their families, and our region. This announcement, coupled with recent job losses in other nearby communities, means there is a lot of work to do to get Northeast Ohioans back on the job. I remain committed to working with business, civic, and political leaders in our region and across the state to create and retain quality jobs for all Ohioans.
