CICLAVIA STATEMENT REGARDING CHINATOWN HUB IN RELATION TO DODGERS PLAYOFF GAME ON SUNDAY

Sunday promises to be a great day for Los Angeles, starting with the eighth CicLAvia event, CicLAvia - Heart of LA, which will take place in downtown Los Angeles from 9:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m. The event will draw as many as 150,000 people who will enjoy a car-free day on bike, foot, wheelchair, skates and other non-motorized transportation. Later that day, the Los Angeles Dodgers will play their first home playoff game since 2009 when they take on the Atlanta Braves. The game is projected to start at 5:07 p.m. The northern part of the CicLAvia route runs along Broadway through Chinatown, north of Cesar Chavez. This part of the route also serves as a vehicle access route for some fans attending games at Dodger Stadium. Officials from CicLAvia, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation and the Los Angeles Police Department met today to address the potential impact of the event route overlapping with this access point to Dodger Stadium. To ensure the best possible day for both sets of fans, LADOT and LAPD will closely monitor the flow of vehicle traffic to Dodgers Stadium Sunday afternoon in real time. Depending upon that flow, the projected 4:00 p.m. re-opening time of Broadway in Chinatown may be adjusted to allow for vehicle traffic. This potential adjustment will not affect the rest of the CicLAvia route.
