Green HR is a critical but undervalued component of business in organizations

INTRODUCTION Green HR can be defined as environmentally friendly HR initiatives resulting in greater efficiencies, lower costs and better employee engagement. The HR function will become the driver of environmental sustainability within the organization by aligning its practices and policies with sustainability goals reflecting an eco-focus. OBJECTIVES 1.To study the types of green initiatives employers are using in workforce management and human resources practices. 2.To study the benefits and barriers of green human resources practices. LIMITATIONS 1.The scope of the study is limited to only HR professionals in India. 2.The report does not take into account the cost benefit analysis of green HR.

REVIEW OF LITERATURE 1. Rennick, Redman and Maguire in the year 2010 conducted a research study on "Green Human Resource Management: A Review and Research Agenda. their study revealed that how GHRM practices influence employee motivation to become involved in environmental activities. 2. Liu and Xie in the year 2013 conducted a research study on "Dynamic Implementation of Green Human Resources Management" which analyzed the connotation and characteristics of green human resources management, and proposed a dynamic model of green human resources management based on the Tristate harmony. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Green HR is a critical but undervalued component of business in organizations. Hence, for the purpose of the present research the topic Green HR was selected. The sample selected was of HR professionals. 12 HR professionals were selected through random sampling on the basis of the employees department in the organisation. HYPOTHESES Based on the result of the pilot study, the following hypotheses were formulated: 1: There is a significant gap between the desire to implement green policies and their actual implementation. 2: Green HR helps to improve the working conditions of the organisation and foster healthy living among employees
