Pavel Florensky The Meaning of Idealism A translation into Polish of a part of Pavel Florenskys famous paper The Meaning

of Idealism ( ) published in Russian in 1915, is presented. The translation of the rst six sections of the paper was published with a commentary in the previous issue of Logos i Ethos. Florenskys paper is mainly devoted to the problem of universals. The author analyzes the idea of four-dimensional world, which appeared in mythology, philosophy, art, and religion. He tries to adopt that idea to the problem of universals. Universals might be thought as four-dimensional entities, and particulars as their three dimensional aspects. Next, Florensky analyzes the meaning of the term genus, species, and idea in the ancient Greek.
