Adding Integers
I learned that adding a negative number and a negative number is the same as adding as you normally would only you put a negative sign in the front. For

adding as you normally would only you put a negative sign in the front. For example, -2+-4=-6. Adding a negative number and a positive number is a little different. If the positive side is greater than the negative side you would subtract the two numbers and leave the answer positive. Same thing if the negative side is greater only the answer would be negative. For example, 3+-2=1, -4+2=-2.
-2+4=2
-5+-1=-6
-4+-2=-6
-2+-3=-5
-2+-1=-3
-2+-2=-4
3+4=7
5+2=7
The rule for adding numbers with the same sign is: When the numbers have the same sign you add the numbers together like you normally would and at the end leave it positive or put a negative sign at the end. Examples: 5+3=8, -4+-2=-6 The rule for adding numbers with different signs is: If the positive side is greater than the negative side you would subtract the two numbers and leave the answer positive. Same thing if the negative side is greater only the answer would be negative. Examples: 3+-2=1, -4+2=-2.
