Methods of implementation
Parallel Running Direct Changeover

Phased Implementation
Pilot Running

Parallel running
It is running the new system while the old system is still running.

Advantages

Disadvantages

Workers can be trained to Two sets of workers have use the new system to be paid to keep both gradually while it is being system working implemented If there are any problems It takes a lot longer to with the new system and fully implement than any it has to be stopped, there other method is still the old system as a

Direct Changeover
In direct change over the existing system is replaced by the new one instantly.

Advantages
The cost is less than parallel running as only one set of workers need to be paid

Disadvantages
If there are problems, there is no backup system

It is very quick method of It can be difficult to make fully implementing a new improvements to the new system and keep it system working

Phased Implementation
Involves the introduction of the new system one part at a time.

Advantages
If the new system does not work as intended with one aspect, the other aspects of the work can carry on as normal Workers have time to get used to the new system

Disadvantages
It is a slow method of the implementation compared with direct changeover

If the new system does not work properly, it is not possible to fall back on the old system

Pilot Running
The pilot running is the method adapted by large organizations.

Advantages
If the system does not work properly, not all branches are affected The later branches benefit by learning from the mistakes made in earlier branches

Disadvantages
It is a slow method of implementation
