Nonentity SYN nobody: -he was a precocious youngster, but he soon reached the nadir of his career, lost all of his prestige, and became a nonentity. Gaunt SYN drawn: -the old mans gaunt face Mien: -her sorrowful mien Refute SYN rebut: -an attempt to refute Darwins theories SYN deny -She refuted any allegations of malpractice. Pensive SYN thoughtful: -Jan looked pensive. Whet: -The view from the Quai Bridge had whetted my appetite for a trip on the lake. Wince: -Sandra winced as the dentist started to drill. Clich: -There is plenty of truth in the clich that a trouble shared is a trouble halved.
