Founded on 1st September 1956 It was founded in 1956 with the merger of 243 insurance companies and provident societies LIC owned by government of India Its headquarter is in Mumbai LIC of India currently has 8 zonal Offices and 113 divisional offices located in different parts of India The slogan of LIC is "Zindagi ke saath bhi,Zindagi ke baad bhi"

Life Insurance Corporation of India International: This is a joint venture offshore company promoted by LIC which commenced operations in July, 1989 with the objectives of offering US$ denominated policies to cater to the insurance needs of NRIs and providing insurance services to holders of LIC policies currently residing in the Gulf
