Over the coming weeks students will be inquiring into how we express ourselves. This is an inquiry into ways we discover and express our identity through Arts. Please find below details of the unit and outlines of how Language Arts and Mathematics will be integrated.
Central Idea Key Concepts
Globally the arts are used to express identity. Form What is it like? Connection How is it connected to other things? Perspective What are the points of view?
Lines of Inquiry
Art as an expression Identity expressed through art Making meaning of art works
Integrated Maths
Shapes (2D) are made up of parts that repeat in some ways Patterns can be represented using numbers and other symbols The use of patterning in arts, tessellating patterns, symmetrical patterns
Speaking and Listening: Students will begin to retell, relate and sequence events and stories with increasing detail. Students learn to ask questions in interview situations. Reading: Comprehension strategy of visualization. Writing : Creating visual images with words from small moments.
