UPGRADING zBAND SERVER

1. Upgrading from Version 5.0.x to Version 6.0

NOTE: The zBand 5.0 database and the following registry hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SkyStream\zBand Server\5.0, should be backed up prior to beginning any zBand Server upgrade.

It is your responsibility to backup all necessary information prior to upgrading. NOTE: Before upgrading, ensure that your zBand Server Version 6.0 license is available. The zBand Server 6.0 Installer will prompt you for the location of the license file during the upgrade of the Primary Director.

A. Single-Director Environment
1. Shut down all open zBand 5.0.x applications, including: Resource Manager, Operator Console, Target Manager, and Settings Manager. 2. Stop the following services: zBand 5.0.x Director service zBand 5.0.x RAS service all Web and FTP services 3. Shutdown the Microsoft Windows Service Manager if open. 4. Run the zBand Server 6.0 Install suite executable. 5. Restart the System. 6. Start the zBand Primary Director and RAS services.

NOTE: Please Ensure that consoles only and Remote Access Server only installs are upgraded last as described in the steps below.

UPGRADING zBAND SERVER B. Multi-Director/Distributed Components Environment

1. Shutdown all open zBand 5.0.x applications, including: Resource Manager, Operator Console, Target Manager, and Settings Manager on all of the primary, assistant, and console only systems. 2. Shutdown all zBand Director, and zRAS services on the zBand Assistant Director System(s). 3. Shutdown the Primary Director and zRAS services on the prime director system. 4. If applicable, stop the zRAS service on any standalone Remote Access Servers. 5. Shutdown the Windows Service Manager on each Primary and Assistant Director System(s) if open. 6. Run the zBand Server 6.0 Install Suite executable to upgrade the Primary Director System. 7. Run the zBand Server 6.0 Install Suite executable to upgrade the Assistant Director System(s). 8. Shutdown the Director and RAS services on the Assistant. 9. Ensure all zBand services are still shutdown. 10. If applicable, upgrade all remaining stand-alone zBand 5.0.x Remote Access Servers by running the zBand Server 6.0 Install Suite executable. 11. If applicable, upgrade any machines running 5.0.x zBand applications to the zBand 6.0 versions. 12. Verify all global and local settings are correct in zBand Settings Manager. 13. Start the zBand Primary Director service on the Prime Node. 14. Start the RAS service on the Prime Node. 15. Start all remaining Assistant Director Services. 16. Start all remaining Remote Access Server services.
