    Legislation Regarding Possession and Consumption of Marijuana


    (Denver) Councilwoman Susan Shepherd released the following statement on Bill Request 13-0736, concerning possession and consumption of marijuana: While it is the job of the Denver City Council hammer out the details of the regulation of retail marijuana, we must uphold the intent of Amendment 64 to regulate marijuana like alcohol, and do so sensibly. The proposed ordinance goes far beyond the current regulations for both alcohol and tobacco in Denver. The language in the ordinance prohibiting observable or perceptible marijuana consumption on private property is a violation of civil liberties and attempts to effectively nullify Amendment 64, which was supported by 66% of Denver voters. Big Brother doesnt belong in our backyards.
