This log cabin mailbox on Chipeta Road, complete with stone chimney, holds mail with the San Juan Mountains in the background.

got mail

Top left, ready to roll from its post south of Montrose is

a mining car that gathers mail for Tracy’s Antiques. Mel
Fairchild, bottom left, grabs his mail from a sea of post
office boxes at the Montrose Post Office. Above, this
jumping horse mailbox was a wedding gift for Tracy
and Pamela Dodd, who live in southern Montrose
County.

If Wilt Chamberlain were a mailman,

he’d appreciate this lofty box, strapped
high on a flagpole on South Seventh
Street.

Not only a mailbox, this tractor at left appears ready to help

with harvest along U.S. 50 north of Montrose. Above, this box
on Log Hill shows there’s no beer can too large to recycle.

Above, a horse is a horse, of course, unless it’s also a mailbox. This mailbox in Olathe belongs to the White family and was created by Forest Hyde.

This yellow winged mailbox shows the owner’s affinity

Terry Bouchard of Montrose sculpted this cactus from an old clothesline post wrapped with holiday lights.
