Our Curriculum
I hope everyone enjoyed a safe and relaxing summer! My name is: Ms. Jennifer, but please feel free to call me Ms. J. I am so excited about this school year and I have so many things planned! This summer, I had the pleasure of meeting some of the children and enjoyed getting to know them. I cant wait to meet everyone! My goal this year is to teach through Work and Play. I will encourage the children to become independent thinkers; utilizing their thinking skills, as well as their cognitive skills. We will participate in a lot of activities; some of which are teacher directed, and others that are more hands on. Our daily activities will consist of academics; Math & Language Arts, Science Exploration, Geography, Art Appreciation & Music/ Movement. I look forward to working with you and your child this year! Please feel free to stop by our classroom anytime~ you are more than welcome to see what weve have going on! Sincerely, Ms. J. Our Curriculum is based on learning through Play. We teach our units through theme based initiatives that will help your child become familiar to the world around them. Our weekly themes will correspond with a curriculum guide that is implemented during the school year. We also will celebrate diversity in our classroom as a way of developing the whole child. Please take a moment to check our daily note which is posted under our Family Communication Board, located by our Circle Time area. We will have free choices throughout the day, during this time each child will have the opportunity to choose what center they will like to go to. Each center is designed with developmental opportunities, this will ensure that your child is not only having fun but learning through work and play. During the day, the preschoolers will also have the opportunity to develop their thinking and cognitive skills, enhance their socialization skills, creative expression, and also their fine and gross motor skills. For Language Arts, we will have a question of the day; which will give each child a chance to use their socialization skills as well as enhance their language development, we will work on letter recognition, name recognition, and prewriting skills. In math, we will work on number, color and shape recognition, sorting, classification, and counting. In Science, your little scientist will explore many different areas that will excite, expand on and enhance their inquisitive minds. We will use nature as our foreground to experiment and explore the world around them.
