What I took away most from this article was that it is essential to remember that the choral curriculum involves a broad spectrum of knowledge and activities and must be about more than simply just singing. The author breaks down the choral curriculum into very logical categories, which include the following: vocal technique, choral technique, music literacy, musical vocabulary, and style and history. It is essential to sequence the learning of these concepts correctly in order to maximize the students ability to retain the knowledge taught to them. Choirs with a well-rounded curriculum tend to produce the best results as well as turn out the best musicians. This article will be very helpful when considering how to plan my own choral curriculum.
