Bilateral obturator nerve paralysis which developed after dystocia ch`ch` frog like position (both hind limb

b extended & reach the elbow of fore limb

Secondary hip or femoral damage

**it means any cow in sternal recumbency for more than 24 hr without systemic disease , also unable to stand after 2 treatment with Ca therapy **it is most common to occur in 1st 2-3 days after calving

Causes

Metabolic causes
-hypocalcemia -hypomagnesemia -hypophosphatemia

Non-metabolic
-calving paralysis -sciatic nerve damage -fructure of pelvis or limb

Clinical signs
1-creeper cow (the affected cows are bright , alert , eat , & drink well , defecate & urinate normally but unable to stand after frequent trial to stand) 2-lateral recumbency + head down back bad prognosis 3-abduction of both hind limb obturator nerve paralysis

Treatment
1- all cow of bad prognosis slaughter 2-good management of the recumbent cow (very very important): a-provide soft bedding b-provide continuous food & water c-provide change of animal position (from site to site) 3-treatment of the primary metabolic cause (as in each disease in details)
