Students will be able to identify and use the area formula for circle to solve circular area problems. Instructional Objectives: Students will be able to use pi to find the circumference of a circle. Students will be substitute information into the formula and solve. Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills (TEKS) & ELPS 111.23. Mathematics, Grade 7. (b) Knowledge and skills. (8) Geometry and spatial reasoning. The student uses geometry to model and describe the physical world. The student is expected to: (C) use geometric concepts and properties to solve problems in fields such as art and architecture. Key Vocabulary: Pi, Circumference, Units of Measurement

Higher Order Questions: Label the circumference of this circle. Differentiate between pi and circumference. Demonstrate how to solve this problem using the board. Select which measurement represents circumference. Invent your own circle circumference problem and solve. Assess if the drawn circles circumference is represented. Student Activities: (Keep in mind the following: Scaffolding, Independent or Cooperative activities, Groupings, Reading, Writing, Listening, Hands-On/Minds-On, Connections to previous knowledge, etc) Independent Work Working with MimioTeach Note Taking Problem Solving Modifications/ELL Strategies: Anticipatory Activity for Lesson: Students will use STAAR math charts. Students will watch a BrainPop video over area, circumference and pi, taking notes during the video. Time Teacher Input/Lesson Activity: Students will watch a BrainPop video over area, circumference and pi, taking notes after the video. The teacher will work four (4) circumference of circle problems using the area formula
