AS Writing Task Many Hong Kong employees have coined their employers by the term monster boss. According to a survey led by Baptist university, more than seventy percent of employees are either mentally debating whether they should seek for a new job or already on the hunt for one. The central reasons for those choices are not limited to a desire for better prospects but also include proclamations of high work pressure, a strain on company welfare and a continuous decline in job satisfaction. The monster boss phenomenon describes employers who merely give instructions but do not listen to their subordinates view. Professor Chiu, from Baptist Universitys Centre for Human Resources Strategy and Development hypothesizes that Some bosses give orders and expect their staff to just follow the instructions and not talk back, after studying the polls from the survey. He found that only 18.8% of workers enjoyed working for bosses who were always handing down orders, but only 33.2% of employers claim that their leadership fell into this category. It doesnt end here though. Moreover, another set of shocking data showed that 27.9% of staff preferred to work under the supervision of supportive bosses but only an underwhelming score of 18.6% was found in that category of employers who considered themselves to be as such. In my opinion, not only do employers need to build a strong communication platform for their staff and themselves so that ideas and opinions will not be mistranslated, in order to avoid unnecessary conflicts in the workplace; employees also need to learn how to tolerate their bosses so they can make progress in their personal growth and feel the satisfaction of rising above those so-called monster bosses who mistreat them. However, I personally think that most workers in Hong Kong need a reality check, as I agree with Sartres concept that Hell is other people and that those who decide to quit and abruptly search for a new job can simply be seen as a form of cowardly escapism and they will encounter further monsters wherever they go.
