DISASTERS TASK

You need to choose a man-made or natural disaster from the list below: Hurricane Katrina Boxing Day Tsunami September 11 2001 Bali Bombings Queensland Floods 2011 Black Saturday Fires 2010 Haiti Earthquake 2013 Bangladesh Factory Collapse
*If you have another suggestion you must consult with Miss Aglinskas first After choosing your focus you need to complete the following questions: 1. An explanation of what the disaster is, when it occurred and how many people were affected. 2. A timeline of the events that occurred (include at least 5 points in your timeline) 3. Who did the disaster effect? How were they affected? What happened to the people? 4. Include your own definition of bravery, and your definition of danger. 5. Choose one person involved in this event to research. This may be someone directly affected by the event, someone who lost his or her belongings because of the event etc. a. Who have you chosen? b. How did this event affect them? c. What happened to them during the event? d. Were they brave or showed courage during the event? How? e. Give an explanation of what they did during the event did they help others? How? Did they rescue anyone? f. Do they fit into your definition of brave? g. Write a response to the following question How did the person you have chosen act when danger called? This must be 300 words minimum. h. What are three interesting facts you have learnt about the person you are researching? i. Where is the person now? What are they doing? j. Do you think that the disaster would still affect them in their life today? Why/why not? 6. What are five interesting facts you have learnt about the natural/manmade disaster you have been researching? 7. Reflect on how you think you would act in that situation. 100 words minimum.
