Q-1 The hydrograph tabulated below in Table-1 resulted from a storm of 6-hour duration. Considering the base flow as 11 m/s and effective rainfall of 3 cm find the peak of 6-hr total runoff hydrograph for an excess rainfall of 5 cm of 6 hours duration. Assume the constant base flow of 11 m/s. Q-2 A well is sunk to the whole of an unconfined aquifer and is pumped at a constant rate. The draw-down in the observational wells are measured and the following data is generated. Static water depth = 15 m Steady discharge Q = 0.015 m/s Dia of well = 1.2 m Draw down at 7.5 m = 1.26 m Draw down at 15.0 m = 0.84 m Find the coefficient of permeability k. (2.5) Solution Q=0.015m3/s H=15 m s1=0.84 h1 =H-s1 15-0.84 = 14.16 m S2=1.26m h2 =H-s2= 15-1.26 = 13.74 m Q = k (h2 2 - h1 2 )/ln (r2/r1) 0.015 = k [ (14.16)2 - (13.74)2 ]/ln(15/7.5) k = 2.8 x 10 -4 m/sec
