INTRODUCTION

Modern communication Requires modern technology. Over the years communication and technology have evolved at a rapid pace, and they seem to evolve consistently together. Many years ago people were using fire and smoke as a means to communicate over long distances.

The advent of the telephone made international communication possible, and today telephones have been miniaturized into cellular phones with a host of features and gadgets, some in aid of communication while others serve purposes completely alien to interpersonal communication.

INTRODUCTION
The use of technology in daily operations is constantly evolving, and one such example is the use of technology in business communication. Being in touch is very important to businesses, that is why it is no wonder why a lot of resources is spent in improving the communication procedures of various businesses.

TECHNOLOGICAL INTEGRATION
The combination of data and voice networks and the emergence of Internet protocol-based messaging made the area of business communications an even more important factor for companies to focus on. With a feasible business plan, organizations can save a lot of money and raise the level of productivity of the staff if the use of technology were well-planned and executed. Even medium-scale companies now have a chance to participate in the fierce competition among larger businesses.

TECHNOLOGICAL INTEGRATION
This is because of the relatively lower cost needed to implement it. In addition, faster company growth and development is achieved more quickly with a unified business communications system. IP telephony is a crucial part of the system, although there is more to it than that. If you come to think about it, it is rather amazing nowadays to have a voicemail waiting for you in your inbox. This can make you simultaneously check your voicemails and read emails instead of doing this task one at a time.

This is just one proof that technology in business communication is capable of increasing worker productivity. If you come to think about, the advantages do not need an employee to undergo a radical adjustment. On the contrary, tasks are made simpler and more convenient for the user. But it may need ergonomic design of work station and communication device.

FACSIMILE
Facsimile transmission machines, commonly known as fax machines, are a widely used method of communication in our society. The document can be transmitted from one end to other around the globe. From the first fax successfully transmitted in 1842 to the easy-to-use machines of today, the technology involved in this communication device has come a long way since then.

Fax Communication Today Fax technology has become accessible to everyone via the internet. Online fax services provide the same benefits of using a standard fax machine, but lower costs and paper use, and save on time. These services enable a user to send faxes to multiple recipients with a simple mouse-click. Users can opt to send faxes to machines directly or to transmit electronic mail information.

PAGER
A pager (often called a beeper) is a simple personal telecommunication device for short messages. Pagers deliver messages in text to the receiver. The pager is a communication technology in a state of transition.

TECHNOLOGY Paging systems use radio waves to transmit or broadcast one-way messages. The pager itself is small, allowing for accessibility at all times, and can be carried or clipped to clothing. Each pager has a number, like a phone number, which the caller dials. The pager is then contacted, and informs the user that he/she is being contacted, with a beep, a vibration, or other signal.

APPLICATION Pagers have many uses, not least of which is the ordinary user who wants to be reachable at all times, whether for personal reasons or work. Parents may rest easier leaving their children with a sitter if they have a pager on them; doctors can be paged in a medical emergency. Pagers are even used at restaurants such as The Cheesecake Factory, so customers can shop while they wait for their table.

TELE CONFERENCING
People's ability to progress culturally is linked to their ability to expand human potential through new technology. An area that is rapidly advancing today is telecommunications. The term "teleconferencing" refers to two-way electronic communications between two or more groups, or three or more individuals, who are in separate locations. In order to interconnect people, teleconferencing systems use telecommunications channels that range from regular telephone lines to satellite links.

The implementation of teleconferencing also brings change. Changes in the way people communicate, learn, do business, access information, make decisions, and relate to others. It affects the organization and the individual. The future of teleconferencing depends not only on the technology, but also on how people respond to it and how it is integrated into the infrastructure of our organizations.

Better technology is another factor attracting people to teleconferencing. Recent developments include improved equipment, more transmission options, the introduction of digital devices like video compression codecs, and the convergence of teleconferencing technologies to the desktop through personal computers. Teleconferencing is also part of the trend to extended networks that integrate information processing and communications in the automated office.

S.M.S.
S.M.S. is a globally accepted wireless service that enables the transmission of alphanumeric messages between mobile subscribers and external systems such as electronic mail, paging and voice mail systems. SMS messaging makes use of a separate channel, normally used for transfer of control messaging to transfer its packets.

Being out-of-band, this means voice and data calls will not be interrupted by SMS transfer. Furthermore, the low-bandwidth requirements of transmitting short alphanumeric strings allows messaging worldwide with very low latency. This of course depends upon network operator agreements.

Applications of SMS Originally SMS was used for: - notification purposes: particularly voice mail (e.g. Optus)
- 2-way messaging: intended to supersede alphanumeric paging, the capability was introduced simply to allow general-purpose messaging between wireless entities.

Newer implementations for SMS include: - E-mail: a number of services now exist that allow you to check a POP3 mail account on your handset, or employ translation of e-mail into SMS form for receipt on a handset - Fax: allows of transfer through handset to a notebook, or translation into actual SMS messages for viewing on the handset.

ELECTRONIC BULLETIN BOARD

Electronic bulletin boards (also known as message boards or computer forums) are communication systems online where one can share, request, or discuss information on just about any topic. While email is a way to converse privately with one or more people over the Internet, electronic bulletin boards are totally public. Any message posted on one can be read (and responded to) by anyone else in the world who has access to the Internet or the particular online service that is providing the message board.

A large collection of electronic bulletin boards is known as a newsgroups. Thousands of newsgroups exist on the World Wide Web, each dedicated to a single topic, making it easier for one to navigate through the information contained on it.

The main advantage of electronic bulletin boards is the fact that they are so public. Because of their accessibility, they give users the opportunity to get information from a huge number of sources, each with the possibility of a unique, original, and even global perspective.

There are several disadvantages to electronic bulletin boards as well. Since they are so public and often unedited, they are almost like an open invitation for troublemakers whose sole intention seems to be to stir things up. The proliferation of unwanted ads (also known as spamming) is another problem for computer forums.

CITIZEN BAND RADIO

Citizens' Band radio (also known as CB radio) is, a system of short-distance radio communications between individuals on a selection of 40 channels within the 27-MHz (11 m) band. Like many other two-way radio services, Citizens' Band channels are shared by many users. Only one station may transmit at a time; other stations must listen and wait for the shared channel to be available.

CB was the only practical two-way radio system for the individual consumer, and served several subsets of users such as truck drivers, radio hobbyists, and those in need of short-range radio communications. While some users have moved on to other radio services, CB is still a popular hobby in many countries.

INTELLIGENT NETWORK
In its purest form, IN is a conceptual model which defines a flexible, service-rich, modular environment supporting advanced services such as enhanced voice (voice processing systems like call forwarding, call forwarding, caller ID etc), fast data and video.

In real life, IN is found in a range of new, intelligent network components such as switches and transmission equipment, which can be quickly and remotely reconfigured to support new service offerings. Intelligent Network technology distributes a level of intelligence conferred by complex software routines throughout the various equipment components of the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

VIDEO CONFERENCING
Video conferencing allows people at two or more locations to see and hear each other at the same time, using computer and communications technology. They exchange visual information with Webcams (digital video cameras) and streaming video. Audio content may be distributed via computer or the telephone system.

The chief advantage of video conferencing is that audiences tend to absorb information better if they are both seeing and hearing it. To accomplish that, video conferencing programs combine Web page tools and Internet communication into one interface to create an interactive meeting environment.

Video input from the camera and audio input from the microphone are converted to digital data. Software is used to compress the data so that it can travel more quickly via ISDN lines, broadband Internet or WiFi. When the data reaches its destination, it's decompressed to be viewed on a computer monitor or television screen and heard through speakers. Acoustic echo cancellation software is used to remove sound interference and eliminate delays so that sound and visuals are in synch
