Union
Referees.
A
most
productive
GM
was
had
on
Monday
night.
A
lot
of
issues
were
discussed
and
clarified.
GMs
are
an
excellent
forum
for
members
to
hear
first
hand
what
is
going
on
in
the
Rugby
Refereeing
world
and
to
give
feedback.
Ricky
will
be
posting
the
minutes
of
all
the
GMs
on
the
website
for
those
who
cannot
attend.
The
coaching
session
after
the
GM
is
always
worthwhile
but
this
week
was
especially
so.
We
looked
closely
at
the
tackle/ruck
are
and
deconstructed
the
3
main
stages
looking
at
the
triggers
we
need
to
mindful
of
when
referring.
Everyone
was
engaged
in
authentic
hands
on
approach.
A
special
focus
was
on
players
going
off
their
feet.
The
coaching
session
after
the
GM
is
an
essential
mechanism
of
the
society
to
get
consistency
across
the
members.
It
behooves
all
of
us
to
attend
these.
Of
course
the
curry
at
the
end
of
the
GM
is
a
tasty
treat.
October
is
almost
over
and
were
into
the
4th
round
of
competition
this
weekend.
The
season
is
flying
along.
If
you
havent
completed
a
membership
form
yet,
you
need
to
get
onto
it
now.
The
easiest
way
to complete a membership form is to do it online. Go to the Members area of the website and at the top of the page is says SIGN UP FOR THE 2013/14 season - click here This will take you to the online form. Fill it out, hit submit and your done. Then get your $400HKD to Dougie (or Peter White). If your membership is not complete (completed membership form and subs paid) by November 3rd, you will be taken off assignr and will forfeit access to 7s tickets and/or jobs at the 7s. You have been warned. There are a lot of opportunities out there for members to further their refereeing both on and off the field. Congratulations to Dawn Isaac who was selected by the HKRFU to attend an iRB training workshop for female Citing Commissioners (CC) in Sydney in December. Congratulations also to our fearless CAB chair, Les Millard, who was nominated by the HKRFU to be an ARFU citing commissioner, which has been ratified by ARFU and hes off to be the CC at the Singapore club 7s next weekend. Dougie Shearer has been appointed to the dual role of referee manager and CC at the Asia-Pacific Womens tournament in Shanghai as well as the the mens Shanghai 7s. Hell be busy boy. I would also like to officially congratulate Matt Roden on his appointment as our Community Referee Manager (CRM). He will be completing the RM team of three joining Bernie (Performance RM) and Patrick (Junior RM). As soon as his work visa is cleared through immigration he will hit the ground running. Christmas Party Date Claimer: Wednesday December 18th at the P.O.C. More information will be out via assignr soon. Have a great weekend. Toot well. Wazza
CAB
Report
Les
Millard,
Coaching
Advisory
Board
(CAB),
HKSRFUR.
Now
that
the
season
is
well
underway
we
need
to
keep
our
standards
up
both
on
and
off
the
field.
There
are
reports
from
some
of
our
referees
who
have
indicated
that
there
are
players
who
still
want
to
challenge
them
inappropriately
during
and
after
games.
Remain
calm
and
polite
in
your
response.
Don't
allow
yourself
to
be
drawn
into
a
slanging
match.
If
a
player
comes
to
you
politely
remind
them
that
they
need
to
go
through
their
captain.
Choose
an
appropriate
time,
like
at
the
next
non
penalty
stoppage,
to
listen
to
the
captain.
Be
calm
and
in
control,
but
don't
be
arrogant
in
your
response.
Players
will
normally
respond
positively
if
they
feel
heard
and
a
reasonable
response
given,
even
if
they
disagree. Your job is to not allow these situations to affect your refereeing. Move on with the game putting it in your back pocket to review once the game is finished. Have a good weekend of rugby.
