Peek of the Week

Happenings Star student this week is Natalia! Ready or not, here comes winter! Or so it feels that way. Please be sure to send your child with warm winter clothes for recess.

Topics this week: letter Pp and pumpkins Monday: Have you carved a pumpkin? Picture retakes Library Day Tuesday: Do you know the part of the world we live in? Wednesday: Can you name a game you like to play with a friend? Happy 40th day of school. We will have a special snack today that begins with p. Thursday: Are you for Halloween? Happy Halloween! Please pack your costume to change into in the afternoon. No need to bring a treat to share as we will create a Halloween cookie. Library Day Friday: Are you honest? 1st dictation test

Dictation/Phonics
The words we will be writing all week to get ready for our dictation test on Friday are Sam, Pam, am, map, and sap sentence: I like a map. Please help your child practice these words at home by saying Write the word am, /a//m/ (say the sounds), am. I will be placing D for developing G for grade appropriate and H for high on their papers.

Reading

This week we will read many stories about friendships around the world. We will recognize, sound and write the letter Pp. We will discuss and practice the reading strategy asking questions to make sure we understand what has been read to us. We will be focusing on spaces between words when we write.

Math
We are learning about AB, AAB, ABB, and ABC patterns.

Art
We will make pinch pots and paint them.
