Lesson 6: The Special Verb Be

The verbs am, is, are, was, and were are all forms of the verb be.
These verbs DO NOT show action. They tell what something or someone is or was.

The verbs am, is, and are Show present tense. Was and were show past tense. Examples: I am sleepy now. I was tired last night. Today we are in Maine. Friday, we were in New York.
