MARKET UPDATES & STOCK RECOMMENDATION Singapore banks, earning the lowest NIM in ASEAN, need to regionalize to keep their ROEs afloat. While this theme may have downside risk especially in markets such as Indonesia and Thailand (UOB has exposure in these two markets; OCBC only has exposure in Indonesia), it remains on the agenda of the banks over the longer-run. But, the regionalization push may disappoint this year. StarHub starts offering SmartSupport Basic phone protection packages. On a year-on-year basis, Singapores manufacturing output grew 9.3% in September 2013. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, output increased 11.3%. On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, manufacturing output rose 3.7% in September 2013. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, output grew 5.8%. On a three-month moving average basis, manufacturing output rose 5.5% in September 2013, compared to a year ago. Output of the electronics cluster grew 20.0% in September 2013, compared to the same period a year ago. Growth was driven by the computer peripherals (75.6%), other electronic modules & components (22.1%) and semiconductors (19.3%) segments, on the back of improved export demand. HONGKONG LAND
