Rue Abel Nouvelle France

Dear Brother, I am writing this to you to tell you how my journey as a voyageur to Canada has been so far. So as you probably know, me and my fellow voyageurs trade furs with the First Nations people. We trade over a route of 5000km. I wake up at 2 or 3 a.m. every morning, and usually dont get breakfast. For lunch we all get a piece of pemmican for along the way. We do stop every hour to smoke a pipe. For dinner we get peas and pork. I know, not the best meal , I do miss mamas cooking a lot. All day I carry two 90 pound bales of fur over portages, sometimes I even have to carry up to 4 or 5 bales. We are also expected to work at least 14 hours a day, and paddle 50 strokes per minute in our canoes. I have had many injuries, but the worst one has got to be when I fell into a very deep part of a lake and since I didnt know how to swim, I nearly drowned, thank god one of the other voyageurs found me in time, and pulled me out immediately. That is what has happened so far, goodbye for now brother. Sincerely, Louis
