The lesson plan was for a Year 1 science class at Corpus Christi Catholic School. The objectives were to teach students about the different parts of a plant and how a bean grows into a plant. A visualizer was used to project images of a bean up close so students could examine the different parts as it soaked and sprouted. It also showed students how to plant their own beans using jars with compost. The visualizer allowed all students to clearly see the bean and planting demonstration, enabling whole-class discussion and participation.

The lesson objective:
To understand different parts of a plant and how it grows from a bean to a plant. To know how to plant a bean in soil.
4x JPEG Images of visualiser being used in lesson. Examples below:
How the visualiser was used
The visualiser was used to show the children a bean that they were going to use to plant to make broad beans. Children were shown the bean, it was then passed around each child. We soaked the bean in water overnight and looked at the bean again. The bean was split open and the different parts were looked at. Children were shown how to plant their bean using a jar and compost.
The benefits of the Visualiser to teaching & learning:
• Clear illustration of the bean. • Enabled children to see a small bean on a large screen. • Enabled children to see the embryo of the bean and how this is what is used to help the bean grow. • Enabled children to see how to plant a bean using a jar and compost. • Enabled all children to share a similar view and therefore contribute to a whole class discussion
