Vocabulary check: Define the following terms and draw a sketch (if it applies). Complementary and supplementary angles : two angles that add up to 90 degrees/ two angles
Isometric drawing : three-dimensional looking drawing using dots; each dot is a corner of the
object
Constructions: Below, construct an angle bisector and a perpendicular bisector. Write your steps off to
Angle bisector
Steps : 1. Draw an angle 2. Place the compass point on the angles vertex. 3. Adjust the compass to a medium setting. 4. Keeping the compass width the same, draw an arc that crosses each leg of the angle. 5. Next, place the compass on the point where one arc crosses a leg and draw an arc on the inside of the angle. 6. Without changing the compass setting, repeat for the other leg so that the two arcs cross. 7. Using a straightedge or ruler, draw a line from the vertex to the point where the arcs cross. Now you have an angle bisector!
Perpendicular bisector
The drawing will be in another document. Steps : 1. Draw a line segment. 2. Place the compass point on one end of the line. 3. Adjust the compass to just over half the line length. 4. Without adjusting the compass width, draw an arc on each side of the line. 5. Keeping the compass length the same, place your compass on the other side of the line and draw two more arcs so that there are intersecting arcs on both sides of the line. 6. Draw a straight line between the two arc intersections.
