Procedures:
Welcome and plan for the day Listening Activity Students listen to 2 examples of soundtrack music A: Finding Charlotte: National Treasure B: Remembrance: Halo 2 Writing assignment (form attached) and discussion

National Standards:
2, 5, 6, 7, 8

Warm-Up
Long-tones, Scales, etc. #5 with different emotions (angry, in love, sad) Harry Potter Run through various sections to work on correcting rhythmic and melodic issues Ask students what is happening in the film (characters, setting, emotions)

State Standards:
Strand 1: 2, 5 Strand 2: 1, 3 Strand 3: 1, 2

Materials:
1. Recordings 2. Warm-ups 3. Scores 4. Soundtrack Listening Form

Assessment:
1. Is there a difference in the overall sound of the music when the students are playing within different emotional contexts? 2. Are the students able to communicate their ideas using musical vocabulary? 3. Are the students able to articulate what musical characteristics may be the most likely to vary based on expressive changes?

Ask students to play with these emotions


Ask students what the opposite emotions are and play the section again Which version do you like better? Which version do you think fits the film best? Phantom of the Opera Same as above Closing and pack-up
