To: Prospective University

With over a decade of attending our local church, Melvin has become an exemplary young man for our young generation. Throughout this time span here, he has shown characteristics of great leadership. Since an early adolescent age, Melvin has shown to be driven and persistent in the midst of many obstacles. I have personally mentored him throughout critical moments in his life. He has been through many hardships, but his relentless attitude has kept him from being just another statistic. This has built a strong character within him and aspires nothing but greatness. He has been very involved with various local programs and volunteer work at church. Melvin has been the drummer of our church worship team. His passion for music has led him to develop his talents beyond his drum set. He now is able to play the piano, guitar, and bass guitar. Here at church we have strict guidelines and high standards in order to be part of the worship team. These standards consist of but are not limited to, the way he conducts himself as an individual, his obedience/submission to authority, his behavior at home and school, and his GPA (grade point average). Not only is he part of the worship team, but also involved in our youth group. We have weekly gatherings and fundraisers to help with youth events. Melvin is always early and eager to assist with any necessity. He has proven to be a role model to our youth. There are times where he is given the opportunity to share his experiences and mentor others his age. As a youth leader, it is of great honor and help to have someone like Melvin in my group. Not only does he make a difference, but eases the load knowing that he is a responsible individual who conducts his life in accordance to his faith. Melvin has set goals and aspirations in life, which has brought him to this next step. Attending the right university is a key step to his success. With the right education and development, I am confident that he will become a valued asset to society and great example for generations to come. He has surely exceeded all expectations up this point and is very much looking forward to the next chapter in his life. In the midst of adversity, his proven drive and relentlessness have led him to become the young man he is today. He awaits the university that will give the opportunity, once again, to strive no matter what may come his way. Sincerely,
