This document discusses the closure of mine shafts and boreholes. It provides typical requirements for shaft closures, including filling the lowest 15 meters with non-combustible material and capping with 120mm thick concrete. Standard procedures for closure include removing surface structures, erecting barriers, and monitoring for gases. Methods of borehole sealing include bentonite plugs and cement grouting. Examples of shaft seals include dry shaft seals, concrete caps, inverted pyramids, and hydraulic seals to prevent water discharge.
