    TYPICAL REQUIREMENTS
    TYPICAL REQUIREMENTS
    Shaft openings to be either filled or capped.
    Fillings should be for the whole length of the shat with
    the lowest 15 m filled with non-combustible material.
    Caps:
    To be of 120 mm (or more) thick concrete or
    equivalent material.
    Be equipped with a vent pipe.

    STANDARD POCEDURES
    Remove surface structures surrounding the shaft.
    Erect temporary protective fence around the work
    area.
    Place a sturdy barrier around the shaft collar.
    Place the steel cover ofer the shaft top during hte
    idle periods.
    Monitor for hazardous gases.
    Place a fence around the site after filling.
